Replacing clutch and flywheel ???

Is there a good writeup on this somewhere? A buddy of mine is buying a '97 with a 5-speed, it has a bad flywheel/clutch and we're going to do the work ourselves to replace it with a south bend unit... Any problems people have run into while attempting this? Thanks for the help!

It is not a very hard job. I have done it a few times. I would go with a Valair clutch. They are awesome and have excellent customer service.

Thanks for the input, was everything pretty accessible once under the truck? (special tools?) We havent nailed down a clutch yet, just threw south bend out there cuz I've heard a lot about them...

I did mine a few years ago and teh only problem (i you can call it that) was I think i remember some of the bolts in teh area of teh down pipe being hard to get too. Other than that it's a pretty straightforward job. One piece of advice, get a transmision jack. Rent one if you have too. I rented one and that was the best money I ever spent on an upgrade project.

'95 PSD w/ a couple mods. Really it's nothing special, except for the fact it's frigin awsome!!!
