maybe a boost leak?

I got a turbonetics drop in turbo couple of weeks ago and put it in. While i was doing that i took out the intercooler, tubes, spider, and all the boots and cleaned everything up good. I have not been able to get more than 20# of boost out of her and i can get that at just over half throttle. i could only get 18 out of the stock turbo, that is one of the reasons i got the new turbo. also the truck smokes more now that it did when i had the stock turbo on it(esp at wot). Is this normal or any idea's what the problem might be.

if you can the same thing at half throttle as full throttle you may need to adjust your wastegate a little.

double check all your boots and tube connections. it took me a few tries to get all the leaks fixed when i did my turbo swap. I also built one of those pvc leak detectors that you hook to compressed air. it made finding leaks pretty easy.

i have one of those too. Tried hooking it up today but it never presses all the way up. was trying to go to about 20# and it steadily just keeps flowing air through the regulator. I can hear it coming out of the crank case vent but couldn't find any other place it was coming out of. I used a whole spray bottle of soap and water.

is there a posibility that it is coming from the intercooler? I really cant spray the intercooler with soapy water without removing it from the truck.

no idea's from anyone??? Well i am going to tear back into it today and hopefully find this problem. Could it be a tuning prob? I couldn't get more than 18# with the stock turbo, that is why i replaced it.

make sure your u-pipes arn't leaking. an exhaust leak is just as bad as a boost leak

is the truck smokeing? maybe you have other issues. if you dont have the fuel your suppost to have it woun't drive the turbo to make more boost
