Heavy Duty Transmission???

I have a 2001 F250 4X4 with the 7.3 and automatic tranny. We have had people in town rebuild it several times and each time they say it should hold up to anything but we keep having problems and burning them up. This truck does hurricane clean up and right now in texas it is hauling way more than it can handle and its a lot of off road in low range hauling. So now we have had enough and are looking for a tranny that can handle the job so i am looking for reccomendations on who can build me what I need. Im also looking for a set of injectors for a little more power and possibly better fuel milage.

Thanks Ryan

When asking about trannys' you will get some heated debates, but most people agree on RacerX, BTS, or John wood. ATS has been known to provide some bad customer service for some and others say great service. I don't personally know anything about BD's trans a member here several years back used one of their TC's though and it held up pretty well for a while til his power started really climbing. He didnt go with them though when he got a new tranny. Call the mentioned parties and tell them what you are needing and decide from there.

Yep...tranny opinions are one of those topics that can get heated very quickly.

In addition to what was mentioned above...Suncoast also builds a good unit I have heard. I have a Monsterbox with no issues.

One quick question. With every tranny rebuild you were going through...did they put a new cooler in? If you trashed your tranny the first time and it sent trash through the cooler...the cooler could be partially plugged. If they didn't replace the cooler with each successive rebuild...it makes sense that the tranny would die so quickly.

If you go with a full built tranny (RacerX, BTS, Suncoast, etc) be sure to get a new cooler installed to go with it.
