99 7.3 PS exhaust?

Looking to drop my EGT's down a bit. Stock exhaust turbo back gets up to 1100 degrees on a loaded pull out in the Black Hills. I run a K&N stock replacement filter, not sure what type of chip is in it (bought it that way) with the EGT guage. Ive been told to cut out the converter (or at least thats what it looks like to me) & drop in a high flow muffler. Im looking to keep the stock pipes & just put in a straight pipe & muffler for steath/stock looks. Any ideas how to approach this? Good or bad idea? Thanks.

"quote from tank"
"I use baby wipes.....

Because if you think that a wadded up piece of paper is actually getting the chit off of your butt.....then I have to ask a question....

.....if you wiped a turd on your arm....would you just use a paper towel to get the turd off?.....or would you wash your arm?...

...let that thought roll around in your head for a moment...

" thank you tank for that insightful thought

I really dont want the rig to be too loud. I dont mind hearing the turbo spool but dont want to shake cars on the street from the sound. I personally dont mind it but the wife wont be having it. We haul horses for long distances in the riding season & I dont want very much resonation in the cab either. Thoughts?? Thanks for the responses!!

I have a 4" downpipe, 5" exhaust with no muffler. Only gets loud in the cab while going up a hill around 2200 RPM. Other than that, its quiet in the cab.
