Surging

2001 7.3 Excursion, it seems like when I have been cruising down the highway a while and then pull off and come into a town it will "surge" or almost seem like it wants to cut out and then come back on. (sorry, best I can explain it). This only occurs when not towing. It never does it when towing a heavy load. It has an Edge stacked on a Superchips with the Edge set on "3".
Can anyone lead me down a path on this? Thanks.

Mine has done something similar to this on two occasions. Both times it was the gas pedal assembly. About $125 from Ford and 20 minutes to change out.

Take the stacked chips off and see what happens. You can not stack chips on a PSD is just dont work that way. Your Superchips is programing your PCM and telling it one thing and then your Edge is plugged into censers around the truck telling it another. Bad idea

Take them both off and see if it still does it.

Do your self a favor and sell both of them and get a custom tuned chip. Your truck will love you a lot more.

As a follow-up:
I took the Superchips program out of it and have been running it with just the Edge. Mostly trying Levels 2, 3 and 4 (5 is highest). I have not had the surging since, however it definetly does not run as strong as it did before. Although I don't want to do damage to it by running them both if that's the case. Now when I get on it, even moderately, it throws a P01211 "ICP Not Controllable - Pressure Above/Below Desired".
It will still run the same even if the SES light is on. Not sure which direction I will go from here.

ditch the edge.. the code is from piss poor tuning.

Like I had said b4... Get a good custom tuned chip and it will not happen.
