no start problem

I have a '97 f250 that won't start. a few months ago when it was really cold the truck wouldn't start. the check engine light would come on when i started to crank the engine and no fire. well today i went out to try to start the truck and it fired off and ran for a few seconds. so i tried again and it ran for about two minutes and then quit again. so i replaced the cam sensor and it still won' fire. and the check engine light still comes on. i have all of the dash lights and warning bell. what else should i check. i don't have a way of checking for codes. thanks in advance for the help!!!

pull the fuel filter and make sure the bowl is full. Did it just shut off or sputter out and dye?

My '97 did that last year. Lost story short. The fuel heater element in the water separator(area) in the top center of the engine can rust, then short out. 30 amp fuse, and not nearly as difficult to replace as the large check I wrote to have it towed and a (very) good mechanic fix it.

Sorry about the lousy description, not enough coffee yet.
