intake, exhaust, custom chip, stage 2 injectors, and a 17degree HPOP (out of 99.5 + 7.3) should get you real close.

add a domminator 66 turbo and maybe a fuel system and it shouldl be easily over that mark, and a lot of fun to drive

high pressure oil pumps are a fixed displacement piston pump, 17 degree refers to the swashplate angle inside the pump. the more angle the more they flow.
the 94 to early 99 trucks all had 15 degree pumps.

It doesn't take $6000 to get to 400hp on them. He really doesn't even need the upgraded HPOP for 400hp either. Yes it'll help but it isn't needed. I made 455hp on my 97 with hypermax injectors, a custom banks ottomind chip, banks exhaust housing, an intake, and 4" exhaust, back in 2000. There are a lot more aftermarket parts and suppliers for the 7.3's now and more tuning options, so it shouldn't be real hard to get done.

It doesn't take that much to get there, but it'll take that much to get that power to the ground...

heck its funner to make the power and then figure out how to hold everything els together later

but yes if you have an auto you had just as well figure on buying a transmission, if you have a 5 speed you can probably get by farly cheep with just a little clutch upgrade

My E40D was my worst problem.................. I went through 7 of them and a ZF 5 speed. I had different trans shops building parts or finding them as I broke them. I know the brunt of my money went into it, but I was sled pulling with it a lot too. Back then I beta tested for precision except it was a pay to test deal. Yeah it sucked. But it sure was fun putting a whooping on dodges and chevy's.
