Late 99 performance injectors for low budget

So the scanner says #8 injector is bad on my 200k super duty. my dillema is the truck is kinda sluggish and id like to replace all eight with performance injectors (under1500)

My goal is to have a 300 flywheel hp truck for hauling a trailer , must be reliable, and aside for injectors/CAI/exhaust and maybe a tuner id like to leave everything else stock as possible..

what should be my first step? truck is 100% stock aside from muffler/cat delete, and has a rebuilt modded for towing 4r100. truck is 4x4

Stage 1's - aka AC's, aka 160cc single shot injectors

I would think those will get you what you want.

Not certain how long the stock turbo will hold out. That will depend on how hard you push it.

where do you get those ? what is cost, and do you have to run a programmer/chip for those? I was hoping for a split shot injector because they are quieter, but I guess you cant have everything...lol

Stage-1 Singles won't add much power at all, some but not much.

The most straight forward upgrade is to add Stage-2 nozzles to your Split Shots. With good tunes they are good for around 50 - 60 hp.

lets say I go with single shot 160cc injectors, what is the ballpark hp with these and a cold air intake, freeflowing exhaust with no tuner box? then what is expected with a box added?

where do I find decent priced 160 single shots with a good rep for quality , and excellent workmanship? My budget is around 1500 dollars

On my early 99, with stock injectors and stock turbo, I put 333hp to the rears...which thinking about a 20% driveline loss, would put me in the 375-380'ish flywheel HP range.

I did this with DP-tuner tuning, cold air intake, 4" exhaust and my stealth pump.

And...you won't get the maximum out of your injectors unless you have them tuned.

First off, IMHO...get yourself a nice set of gauges, some tuning, an intake and and exhaust. Honestly...I would replace your faulty injector with another stock injector. See how the truck reacts to the above. I have a feeling that with the addition of the tuning, intake and exhaust your truck will feel new...and get you close to where you want to be.

also if you ever decide to upgrade your injectors.... put some money aside for a turbo.

my stock turbo only lasted a month after i did the chip, intake, and exhaust using stock injectors.

$1200 -$1500 bucks.

if you dont puch your stock turbo past 20 psi. it will last a while.

I did my upgrades in this order.

#1 Gauges

#2 intake + exhaust

#3 Chip

#4 Turbo cause of the chip.

The most important thing you can do is have gauges installed first so u can see what kind of EGT's and PSI you generate when doing other mods.

After I put the chip in and cranked it up my turbo was pushing 30 psi. way more than it was designed for.

the chip dumps more fuel in your cylinders creating more exhaust which creates more volume through the exhaust side of the turbo, which makes it spool faster and stronger. the bearings cant handle it and the pressure isnt even ballanced on both side of the turbo. mine just shredded apart.

If you decide to put a chip in before an upgraded turbo..... be sure to not push it too hard. Having the power on tap its sometimes hard to not use.

If on a budget, what is a good turbo upgrade or complete turbo that will support about 325-365 of flywheel hp? lookin for cost effective mods here.....I may stay with the stock injectors if I can hit stock 6.0 numbers with em. I dont want to shred the trans , so under 300 at the wheels is my goal
