DIY air intake

Job done. Pics will follow. Got a 6637 from NAPA (45.00) and a 45 degree elbow and 6" of 4" pipe from building supply store (10.00). I cut the horn off the stock air box and glued it into the short piece of pipe (this allows the stock rubber bellows to mate up perfectly, glued the short pipe to the elbow and inserted the 6637 into the female end of the 45 elbow. I used three stainless steel screws to secure the filter to the elbow and dropped it in. Dang if that's not just the cleanest intake setup I've seen and it cost me $55.00. My seat of the pants dyno says I have a slight increase in power and things sound slightly louder on downshift but that's about it. I can see now why everyone ditches the stock airbox. It's a piece of crap and certainly not Ford's better idea.

I will be doing this to my truck soon. Thanks for the info and hope to see pics!

As promised...pix of my Sunday morning entertainement. Please ignore the wire running over it. Previous owner had some doodads wired in under the dash and I haven't got around to tracing/removing it yet. The 6637 filter was a snug friction fit into the 45 degree elbow so I just added three stainless steel screws to make sure it stays that way.
