Give me your takes...

My boss priced me his 96 7.3, reg cab, long bed, well maintained, I know the guy that owned it before him and he takes really good care of his trucks, and I know that my boss always does too, he just takes it to someone else to do. I'm not sure if it has aftermartket exhaust, he told me it has a chip but I don't know what and how much (didn't have a whole lot of time to talk). I'm wanting to say it has 212 or 213k on it. His price was $10k but I'm pretty sure he'll drop it some. I've owned a 2000 and an 02, both with 7.3's and loved them to death. Absolutely nothing against the 6.0 it's been a really good and reliable truck, but I'm need to sell it to start making new house payments, and I would like to find a 7.3 I can afford. I'm not familiar with the OBS, so I don't know what kind of changes they made in between 96 and 00. Any kind of feedback is much appreciated, so thanks in advance. This is a really slick truck that has been really taken care of and not driven hard at all, but I still don't think it's worth 10. what do you guys think, and how happy are you with the OBS.

On the hunt for a 7.3 preferably CC or Ext. Cab SB...Let me know of any deals.

you dont say where the truck is <location plays into price/market>, is
it 4x4, auto, 250/350, drw ? you also dont say what the trim level is (xl, xlt, etc).

IF its an xlt, auto, 4x4, in good condition, Kelly bluebook, says its worth
between 2600-3400

private sale w/ that mileage and all the goodies (xlt, auto, 4x4) says its
worth between 4500 & 5300

i think one of the main changes that were made was that the OBS did not have an intercooler, whereas the newer 7.3s did

one of my buddies has a 97...only real problems he had was his trans went out..and he had to replace the injectors

i wouldn't pay 10k for a truck with that many miles...if the body is in good condition, i'd pay maybe 6-7k

good luck

I agree with everyone else, $10K is way too much. You can get a truck 4-5 years newer with 100K less miles for $10K.

Thanks guys...there is know way that I would pay him that for it...6k tops, I just wanted to know some common problems with the early 7.3's, are they the same common problems as the later ones? I appreciate all the input, but I should have said that I thought that was way to high in the first place. Oh and is there any way to add an intercooler to this truck to make it like the older ones?
