Exclamation 2000 F-350 PSD

My Dad passed away a month ago and my mother said she would sell me his truck. It has 88k. I did a waterpump on it last fall. Otherwise is seems to be in good order. The only other issues I can remember is that it was always a little hard starting in the winter if not plugged in. We put new batteries in twice and I personally beleive it's the alarm system killing them. The truck sat alot. My father had been wheelchair boud for the last 4 yrs so my mother drove it around once a month or so and used it to plow the driveway. Is it bad for the injectors at all to let it sit ? Any other issues I should look for ? The only other thing I remember was in the cold when first started it used to hunt around a little rpm wise. It is xtracab(suicide doors) XLT Lariat with every option. Was going to give mom 13k for it. It has a Fisher MM2. I was going to buy a 2000 CCDRW Chevy with a 6.5TD I had found tommorow but my mother said she hates to see me covered in grease and getting burned(I got screwed on a Dodge I bought from the lowlifes at Lee's Auto Ranch in Ellington CT) and said he would sell me the truck. Also what kind of scanner will work on these that is affordable. A Snap On Modis is not in my budget right now..
I know the tranny went in my 99 F-350PSD at 77k. This ttruck has been babied.
I have to decide today.

Get it. That's a good price for a low mileage truck.

I went over to start it today and it barely started. Something kills the batts cause my mother had it out a week ago and the batts are about 8 months old. It has had that problem for a long time. Also it didn't race up right away when started but then whn it did it was like hunting around rpmwise. When I stepped on the brake it came down. I drove it to my house and it sounded like ti was pulsing a little in my driveway but then smoothed out. The truck has not been driven much. Could there be anything major wrong with it ?

There is oil residue around the turbo. Is that normal ?

Might want to check your battery connections... I had the same problem with my truck and it ended up being a loose terminal on the passenger side battery, positive connection.

Little bit of romping after sitting is normal. Like you said, it hasn't been driven in forever. Drive it for a week and see how it does.

The best thing you can do for this truck is to run it. Jump in and take it for a couple hundred mile tour on an interstate. Then begin the process of deciding how to approach things. Nothing sits around like that and can be expected to not miss a beat. I learned this the hard way with an old Porsche 911.
