Can anyone help? Hard starting

Hey all, I have a 02 f350, and its having cold start issues, somtimes it fires right up, some times it takes a couple turns, and other times i just wont seem to fire unless plugged in, now from what i noticed, it kinda trys to start when the oil gauge starts showing pressure, its only does this when its kinda chilly, started out anything below 30 degrees, and then 40 degrees, and well, im in denver now and its 45 degrees and dosent want to start at all, the truck has new glowplugs, new idm, new valve cover harnesses (needed them) new fuel filter.. HPOP maybe??

How does it do when it gets started? Is it rough for a few seconds, a few minutes, or is it fine?

It chugs for a few seconds (5-10 tops) and billows out white smoke, which i assume is fuel from cranking it.. Im just assuming at 45-50 degrees it shouldent even need the heat from the glow plugs, the other morning in montana, my thermometer said it was 24 degrees and it fired like a champ, and today, 45 degrees, and it kept sounding like it wanted to start but just not quite wanting too..

Tell me about it, I love my truck, but cant stand this trial and error crap, I wish I had my 99 back.. almost 380k miles when i totalled her out and never had a problem other than regular stuff, this thing is just becoming a headache for me since I use this truck for work, and for work I travel all around the country..

White smoke can be fuel or coolant are you loosing any coolant? The ICP on a 6.0 will make it start slow and chug a little, not sure about the 7.3 though?

Did you change the glow plug relay?

Simple test. Open your door so that the dome light it on. Then, key-on the truck to activate the glow plugs. Does the light dim? If it doesn't, you aren't activating your plugs and the relay may be your culprit.

All coolant is there, could a leak in the hpop cause this problem cause I do have a mysterious oil leak, and my engine vally is covered in oil.. As far as the relay, it was checked when glowplugs were done, but that was a few months ago. And would it really be needed to start in 40-50 degree weather, I'll do the dome light thing my next fuel stop.

Well I tried this, and with the door open and dome light on when I turn the key the dome light turns off.. Lol :-) but if I swich the dome light on and turn the key it dosent dim ome bit.. So I'll try that too.. And see if I can find anyone in the stl area that has a scanner to read my hpop pressure..
