aluminized exhaust?

Hi all, just got my 98 cummins 12v. I already replaced the stock air box/filter with a BHAF. Very pleased!

I am going to buy 4" from turbo back straight piped. How long will Aluminized hold up? I live on the coast right on the ocean so im worried about the salt air rotting my pipes out. Or should i save up for stainless?

Also i read alot of talk about 5" being the loudest setup. How much quieter will 4" straight piped be, i'd prefer loudest but for the money im not that concered? Im mainly worried about preformance and sound rather than looks. What yall think?

Also need to buy some guages, Trans temp and EGT. Where is best place to buy? Are these the only two i should need or is a boost guage also necessary? Thanks, BTW this site rocks!

Make a post in the Supporting Vendor forum on here with your needs. We have many very good vendors on the Garage that have great prices.

Personally I think the aluminzed will do you just fine. I would go with a 4" anything after that is just extra money for more noise, no perfromance gains. On the guages a boost and egt are must haves, a tranny temp gauge also is on that list if you have an automatic.

No, I have to agree with bouncer. Unless you are running a ton of fuel and a larger turbo, 5inch isn't necesary. The 4inch will do just fine. As far as aluminized goes. I live on the coast as well, and get sea fog in everynight. 1.5years on this exhaust and it still looks fine, no signs of corrosion yet. A boost gauge can be a very good investment too.

What psi boost guage should i get.

I found guages by glow shift for $193 shipped(trans temp, egt, and boost, with triple pod) but the boost guage only goes to 30 psi.

Do i need a better/higher guage? Has anyone heard of/used these guages, what ya think about em?
