180 and 215

Ok, I got a 180 pump. My buddy just totalled his 96 with a 215, and he is parting out some stuff. Can't take too much or the junk yard won't take it later. Would I be able to take his 4k GSK and it will fit on mine? What about delivery valves? Are they any bigger and would they fit? The cam? Plungers? I don't know what else, but if anyone knows of anything on the pump that is interchangeable and will give me more power  I'll take it. I offered to buy the whole pump, but we figured that the junk guy would notice it gone. Just a theoretical question, would I be able to take his turbo and make a cheap set of twins? Its a stock turbo, maybe had the wastegate messed with a little. Any and all help is appreciated, I need to know by tomorrow morning. Thanks

The GSK and dvs will swap. Might be able to do a 131/181 dv hybrid. Valve springs too if hes got them. How much is the junk yard gonna give him for it? He could probably get an easy $3000 out of it if he parted it out. I know I'd be interested in some stuff.

The turbo is the same one you have, so unless something is wrong with yours I wouldn't bother. Parallel twins (two of the same size turbos each getting half flow) are not any better than a big single.

Ok, so whats the 131/181 hybrid? I'm assuming I have 131's and he has 181's? Would that be pulling the little pieces out of the middle and putting them in mine? I don't really understand DV's yet. PM me if you want somethin, Ill see what I can do. Cant get everything though.

The 131 valve in the 181 holder. Haven't tried it so I dunno if it make much of a difference but its worth a shot

The 94 & 95 pumps have 131 dvs and the 96-98s have 181s

So you have already swaped pumps? A 95 shouldn't have a 180! Anyway, no matter I would swap pumps...if he's sending it to the junk yard pull that pump off! Whats the junk yard giving him for it? Definently don't let that 215 get away!

Nope, I thought that 180 was stock on a 95 manual. His rig has almost 400,000 on it, so I dunno if I want to switch completely. We only have a day to swap gov springs, take off his lift and 36" tires, brush guard, tool box, DV's, PacBrake, and the tube running from the turbo to the intercooler. Im helping him part it for the GSK for free, and Im getting the lift, tires, pacbrake and DV's. The rest go to some of his friends. I'll try the hybrid DV's if they don't drop my mileage too much. I need a turbo before I get too much more fuel, but the smoking ability comes in handy sometimes.

94 &95 manuals were 175hp. Very similar to the 180hp 96-98 autos. Injectors are even the same size. Not sure what the 5hp difference is

You might be able to sell the fuel plate even if its the stock one, it would be a good one to modify.

When you do the GSK you don't need the big idle spring. And put a paint mark on the dampener when you get the first set of springs in position. Then you can turn the motor over one turn until the paint mark comes up again and the second set of springs will be right there.

The 175hp and 180hp motors do not use the same injector, the 160hp and 175hp pumps are one in the same. The 180hp and 215hp pumps use a different camshaft than the earlier models along with delivery valves, the main difference between the 180hp and 215hp pump is the plunger design.

I meant he doesn't need to swap the idle spring, he can just use the one already in his pump. Should have been more clear I guess
