short shfter

does anyone know if somone makes a short shifter kit for my 5 speed? havent been able to find one, just curious.

1997 2500 Cummins 4x4 230k
Grinded Fuel Plate, AFC full foward, Starwheel Adjusted, Staightpiped

Unfortunately the 97 and older NV4500s used a one piece shift tower and there are not short shifters made for them. Sometime in 98 they switched to a two piece design that will work with the aftermarket shifters. The newer design also has a shorter throw than the older style but not that much better.

In order to get a short-shift kit on the older style the shift towers need to be swapped. I hear the swap is a direct bolt-on though

Just to be sure, if you get a chance look at your shift tower and make sure its the older style.

im sure it is the older style if its a 97. thats what ive got and im wanting to do the same thing. i know someone with a 98 12 valve and he just got a new tranny and his 3rd and 4th gear are closer then the 97's too

97 12 valve, 5 speed, 700cc scheid injection pump with a 5k gov. spring, scheid 5x.013 injectors, Vulcan Performance boot kit, II 66/74/14, cnc port, balanced crank, o-ringed head, a-1 h-11 head studs, bored .20 over, 7 angle valve job, FASS 200, 21 degrees timing, Titanium retainers, Hardened keepers, Mahle pistons, aem air filter, southbend clutch, lowered 3", and isspro gauges

i dont think the stock 98 trannys had a closer 3rd and 4th gear but the one he baught does
