it won't be louder but, you should be able to get more boost from it. The problem is, if you over spool the stock turbo... you could have a grenade on your hands. 38 to 40psi is all the stocker is any good for. Other than that...you're just blowing hot air.

With the amount of fuel you have, I wouldn't really be concerned with pushing that turbo out of its map. Without the elbow, the wastegate will open at around 18-20psi on your truck venting excess exhaust pressure. With the elbow, the smaller orifice will restrict the boost that is helping the wastegate actuator and keep the wastegate from opening until about 32-35psi.

As for pushing the turbo out of its map by 38-40psi, that depends on what RPM you are turning. an hx35 can be in its map as high as 47psi. But it will only supply enough air at that PR for the truck to be running at about 1100rpm. If you get closer to 3000rpm, it will only push about 22-25psi boost and still stay in its map.

Just because you have more boost, doesn't always mean you'll be making much more power, if any. Need fuel to do that.

Besides, it isn't boost pressure you should be interested in. It should be air flow. More boost equals more pressure. More pressure means more resistance.

The abolute first thing I wouold do is get some gauges (Boost and Pyro). Then slide your stock plate forward or make you (grind you #100) or something equivalent. There is so much stuff you can do for free that will really make these truck fly, and have controllable EGT's.

After a few mods you will need to upgrade the tranny (if Automatic) or get a new clutch (if manual). I have a blast working on my truck.
