Chips...Best buy for my $$$

Hey there y'all!
I have recently got a 2000 stroker, dually, crew cab, and is completley stock (with the acception of a set of whips ) Im looking for some advice on what kind of chip ot put on.
I have heard of stacking these things. what dose this mean? What can be done w/ this?
I am looking at the bullydog 6 position on the fly flip switch which will gain me somewhere arround 100 hp (i think).
Can i stack others on top of this and if so what ones.

any advice on better chips to buy or other mods would be apprichiated!!

Well I'm slightly biased but I as well as alot of others have had extremely good results with DP-Tuner, Jody and Diane Tipton, they are also vendors on this site. I had Hypertech, then Superchips, now run Jody's tunes and the difference is unreal. They have chips and they also have the SCT XCal 2 which they can download programs onto. This device also will read diagnostic codes as well as datalogging. I prefer the programmers but that is just my :2cents:. Many use chips and love the ability to change programs on the fly, but with chips you have to have and keep good contact or you can fry your PCM. I'm sure many more will chip in. Hope this helps, Gene :mafia

I had a chip from a guy who was once the Guru of chip programming. Liked it but thought I could do better. I ordered an F5 from Jody. Settings 1- stock 2-1100 rpm idle 3- 40hp tow, 4-80 econo, 5-80 tow, 6-100 and 7-120.

The difference is incredible. I have more power with lower EGT's and I tow heavy running about 24,000 lbs most of the time. I ran the Econo setting unloaded for a full tank and went from 11.5 to 13.69 mpg. I am not sure I really believe that but I will check it the next tank.

Love the chip

DP-Tuner, TS Performance or van Aaken. I wouldn't get a Bullydog 6 position, it is the same thing as a TS but is more money.

After re-reading your post, you should look at getting guages, intake, and exhaust. You will need these to run any chip or program as they will raise your EGT's. I will probably get flamed for this but you could probably run a 40 hp tune without the guages, but and I stress this it is not a good idea, you need to see what kind of EGT's you're hitting to avoid melting pistons. DP-Tuner has 40-140 hp tunes that I know of, but unless you have supporting mods you will not see real gains over the 80hp tune. Your best bet is to contact Jody or Diane and they will guide you in the right direction. I'm not saying they're the only fish in the sea but I personally have been using their tunes and I am very satisfied. The SCT Xcal2 is a programmer that they can down load 3 programs on, but it can not change on the fly like a chip. I like the programmers for the code scanning capabilities, but as I said earlier that's just my :2cents: worth. Jody and Diane will be at Smokin in the Smokies, so getting ahold of them this weekend might prove hard, but give them a call, you won't be sorry  .Gene :mafia

I would have to agree with 01blkf250... Just to be on the safe side you need gauges- Pyrometer, Boost, and tranny temp and all sensors, probes or sending units mounted in the correct places. It's just extra insurance that you don't damage anything. Im sure Diane and Jody will recommend this also. The stock gauges aren't any good for performance upgrades. I just received my SCT from them today and its a big difference over stock. I got the 80HP ECONO and the 120HP Race files with it. I dont really tow anything so I didn't really need a tow file. But like someone else stated above the SCT can be used as a code reader and can be used as a data logger which is what caught my attention. It's a tough choice between the chip and the Programmer because the chip lets you change on the fly. And the programmer you've gotta change tunes with the vehicle off but I think the SCT offers alot more than just a chip.

yah you will most likely have to get ahold of them at Smokin or after, My buddy just got his SCT for his Supercharged 5.4 in time and that was on wednesday.
