Bully Dog vs. DP

I had a Bully Dog 6pos. before my DP tuner 6pos. I may be crazy, but I swear that the Bully dog was quicker?? Got rid of the Bully Dog cause it made the transmission act stupid, but that was when the tranny was stock. Now that the BW tranny is in I doubt it would do the same. Anybody have experience with the two tuners?

One company is known for excessive timing, especially low end, and this would make power, albeit unsafe.

One company is known for safe cylinder pressure testing and very good shift patterns on the transmission. Power may not be as sudden as the other, however, I know which one I would rather have.

Hint. Safe power begins with a D

Other thing is put them on the track and find out which one is quicer for sure.

Ahh I see! I have one more quick question, why is it that I feel no difference in the 80hp tune and the 120 hp tune? I have more smoke, but not any noticable power increase.

Prolly cause the 80hp tune is getting close to maxing the hpop out.

The differenecs between the 80hp and the 120hp is the t/c lockup and shift schedule along with fuel delivery. You may not be noticing a whole lot of power differences because Jody's 80hp econo tune actually dynoed at 105hp.

trapit,

I would say you need to provide more info about your truck if you want to know what's up with the DP-Tuner.

What you need to understand is the use-able hp & torque ratings when comparing them side-by-side. The powerband on a dyno will be drastically different I'll bet. I witnessed this on Saturday with an Edge and DP-Tuned OBS.

My early '99 falls off on the upper end of things due to a little HPOP and 110K miles. But I'm very content with 283/608 compared with 233/490 in the stock setting.

The 80hp tune is very daily driveable around town, but the 120 is a little less so due to shift strategy and that peppy little pedal.

My 80 & 120 were about 12hp apart (271 vs. 283), but the torque ratings were more disparate - 576 vs. 608, which is a good thing and where I want my power.

I'll bet with a better HPOP (even a 17*) I would be closer to 300hp. That's just intake, exhaust & tunes. Got more goodies waiting to go on the truck.

Put in on the track or on a dyno and fill out your signature to let us know what you're driving.

I think twildman said it when he talked about the HPOP not giving enough. I

throw the oil code whenever I'm on it hard so HPOP will be my christmas

present to myself! Who do ya'll think I should go with for an HPOP? Why is

it that most everyone says I need to send the Dp back in to get retuned for

an HPOP, is it that big of a difference??

Sounds right. Single HPOP= Dephi
Duals= Stealth, Terminator or BTS.
If you go with a twin set-up Jody will need to retune your programs.

My Delphi pump didn't do any better than a 100,000 mile OEM SD pump. I only say this because I don't want people thinking the Delphi is a cure. With that said, I would choose it over a Ford reman since it supposedly is made with all new internals.
