ECM trouble and trans O/D

Has anyone experienced trouble on 2001 7.3 ltr. trans o/d light flashing. Additionally I appear to have lost communication with ECM, causing the trans to go into "high-line pressure operation. I have the Hypertech III programer installed, but can no longer communicate between programer and ECM. Symptoms are loss of power and trans overheat due to converter bi-passing lockup stage. I am starting out by replacement of ecm from Ford. Any suggestions as to programmer issues?
Thanks

Might want to first check the fuse to the PCM OBD-II, or plug something into the cigarette lighter, they are both on the same fuse. If it's blown, you can't communicate to the PCM through the OBD-II port. Worth checking before spending more money on a PCM.

Going to max line pressure is exactly what the transmission will do if the PCM loses control of transmission operation. Your on target, with a loss of communication. Like pocket said make sure you need a PCM (ECM).

A harness/wiring problem will also cause no PCM communication.
