Intake problwm

I put the napa 6637 air filter on my truck yesterday and I used a 3 inch schedule 40 PVC 45 DEGREE elbow, i put the factory restriction gauge in the tube and when i drove the truck it read that the airflow was 100% blocked. When i had the stock air filter on it never read that the airflow was that restricted. Did i do something wrong??? Would a 4 inch exhaust elbow make that big of difference?? Thanks for the help.:smoke

Yes.

a 4" is 77% more area, and a huge difference to inlet restriction, considering you need to move anywhere from 500 to 1000 cfm.

IOW, in a 3" conduit, 1000 cfm is 230 mph. Major restriction. In a 4" conduit, that speed is reduced nearly in half. There is a square relatiuonship between speed and restriction force, so the 4" will have 1/3rd the restriction.

Also, if you can provide a nice flair to (both) conduit ends, there will be considerably less restriction still.
