does this matter?

If we told Jody the ECM was a VDH2 and it is actually a VDH5 does that matter? Its so hard to read that darn code upside on ear in the engine bay

As long as you use all VDH ecm family stuff it should work, but you may encounter some oddities. You probably should email or call and tell Jody or Diane that your ECM is really a VDH5 just to be safe.

Usually if the prefix is the same you can use any programming in the same family. For example, VDH2 and VDH5, or subsistue NVK, etc.

NVK is in the DPC-422 family. You can use any code from that DPC family when programming a 4 bank chip. i.e. PMT# can be used on a chip for a NVK# calibrated PCM.
