help choosing

okay i have a 200 f-250 with the 7.3 @ 156,000m i am only getting 12-14 on the MPG side. i would like to bump this up with a chip or tuner but i have heard horrors stories about roasting the diesels with that many miles on it. so what would yalls suggestion be as far as a chip or tuner.

BTW i am currently running 4" exhaust and a stage 2 AFE cold air intake

I wouldn't worry about the miles at all on that truck as long as normal maintenance has been done. I know of many 7.3 trucks with twice those miles with major performance upgrades. As far as MPG goes, a chip can help, but most of it comes from proper maintenance and some control over your right foot more than anything. Get you some gauges if you are going to get a chip so you can keep any eye on vital signs, especially EGT and trans temps if it is an auto.

2002 F250 Extended cab XLT 4X4 long bed.
Intake, muffler delete, DP-Tuner

1997 F250 Regular cab 5 speed 4x4.
3in Downpipe, Stage 1 sticks, solid flywheel conversion, 6 position chip. Work truck.

thanks for the response do have an opinion on a chip/programmer that would fit my needs. as far a s maintenance for the past year(since i have owned it) it has had oil change every 3Km. clean air filter regulerly i try to keep rpms under 2K although not all the time possible

i wouldnt worry about your mileage, take a look at my sig i have 100000 on you and i beat the snot out of mine. as far as fuel mileage goes myself i dont see much difference stock or tuned, could be my driving style tho, i like to use that extra power all the time. i still average 15 with my truck, i guess it could improve if i drove normal but honestly i think most of the claims of big mileage gains with a chip is BS, chips add more fuel then stock.

Everything that i've heard about DP-tuners is good. Peronally dont have one but thats gunna change soon

With my dp tuner set on 80 economy, I get 18mpg doing 75 on the highway running 2200 rpm. Around town watching the smoke puffs in the mirror I average 13. The sweet part is on the 120 setting and romping it I still get 12 campared to 8 with the superchip on the high setting. You could probably get 20 highway if you slow it down a little and if you could take it easy in town 15-16 should be done easily.

2001 F-250 7.3L Ext. Cab, SB 4X4, MBRP 4in, DIY intake, autometer pillar gauges, DP F5 tuner (40,80 and 120), ride-rite air springs, 08 Diff. cover.

What gauges do you guys recommend running Trans and a pyro. I'm about to chip mine as well? ThanX Ryan
