tow setting on DP tuners

Is it really necessary to get the 40 heavy tow when towing a 15,000# 5er cause I can tow it in ALMOST any terrain with the EVO. on the 80hp setting with reasonable EGTs(1150-1250)? I am trying to keep cost down for know so I would like to get 60, 80 eco, 140 agg. for the time being. With that said can the chip have tunes added later like maybe the 120 or would I have to sell that chip and get one with the settings I would want?

If you get the F5...you can send it back at anytime and have Jody had more tunes to it.

I tow with the 40hp tow burn...and I can almost promise you that it will perform as good...if not better...than the Evo 80hp tune.

With my 40hp tune...I can walk a 7% grade coming out of Rapid City toward Wall at 65mph...no smoke...EGT's right around 1100 degrees...and pass anything that is pulling a trailer.

So would you say instead of the 60 go with the 40, 80eco., and 140 agg.(I have to have the smoke tune!)
About the only thing I tow is the 5er but sometimes a dump trailer or something.

BTW you have alot more mods than I do so that makes a difference!

I run custom tunes from Jody based off the 40 tow, 80 econo, and 140 extreme (I wouldn't call my 40 tow tune a 40hp setting, more like 80 now). Most of the time I'll tow in the 80 setting, and flip to 40 only when EGT's start climbing. That rarely happens though, and only recently I actually needed it due to leaking up-pipes. But my thoughts have always been that I can have a good fail-safe tow tune for those "just in case" times. Before leaking up-pipes, Eisenhower pass was a piece of cake in the 80 tune with a trailer in tow.

i tow 12K with the 80hp tune...steep grades... I have to keep out of it, but firm throttle is just fine EGT wise
