boost gauge buried on Dp

:smoke I recently added a dp tuner to my truck. I can bury my 35# boost gauge in a matter of seconds. I thought the gauge was broken so I tried my friends gauge in place of mine same effect. I have only owned this truck for about 7months now.I was thinking maybe previous owner has some other upgrades done to truck. But I have no clue I wouldnt know what to look for to be honest since the truck does not have head studs should I Install a pop off or something of the sort to limit he boost?and what is a safe level for these trucks. btw it does this in the 80e and the 120r modes I am almost considering getting studs cause I love the power level truck will go sideways when it shifts gears with foot to floor.:smoke

wow that thing has got to have a big ***** turbo or some bigger injectors!!!!

headstuds are really only needed after about 40# of boost but it still would not be a bad idea!

EDIT: maybe to see if it has a big turbo, you should take some pics of it and see if we can tell....

Oh and how much smoke?? any at all????

early 99 with some stuff on it

Oops, you can see when I posted that.

I apologize to the op. :sofa

80E should see 28-30 psi

120R should see 30-32 psi.

Definatley need bigger injectors to make higher boost numbers then that.

So maybe I might have injectors or something I will have to tinker on it and see.I was looking at my turbo and comparing to my friends 2000 mine has same name on it but diff #s.Mine is much mo shiny then his like it could be newer or just beter taken care of.he has a ts chip and envies my truck now. he is saving for a dp tuner.
OP what is the tans lock up for does it help in any way? Also I have a potentiometer that is wired into my idm ohm value of 1k to 10 k it is on a toggle switch have never used it in conjunction with chip what do you think that would do.Read your sig obviously just curious of your thoughts.

maybe its an early 99 thing? I was told at the .org that I couldn't set off my cel for overboost with a stock truck, but whaddya know at 2400 rpms I can run 21-22 lbs. and It'll still climb

I can barely get 25 psi at 80mph on the 120 setting, what would cause the difference?
