2000 7.3 Questions

Just aquired a 2000 7.3 from the company I work for as my work truck. In addition to driving it during the work day I am also allowed to drive it for personal use. It has 152k miles on it.

Id like to put some sort of programmer on this thing to bump up the power a bit. My only issue is obviously I cant put gauges or exhaust on the thing because the fleet mechanics would know something is up.

So my question is what tuner do you recommend? Id love to have a 100 hp tuner but I am also a little nervous about adding that much power without having exhaust or gauges.

Well everyone will tell you to get a dp no matter what the situation is but i would say if your trying to hide it then i would get a superchip or something of just the plug and play type so it is easier to hide.
Thats my best guess but others will chime in.

Just another 6leaker Thanks to RCD

With any tuner you really should have gauges. Since they're adjusting the fueling settings from stock, you're increasing your chances of melting something.

If you want to hide your gauges, get something like the Attitude moniter that comes with the Juice tuner, or the A2 monitor...don't use any tuner without gauges;

I think the service techs would rather know you're running a tuner and they see the gauges than you melting down the motor because you ran the tuner without gauges.

I ran an 80econo flash in my PCM for nearly 15 months before I put gauges in my truck. I told Jody I didn't have gauges when I had the PCM flashed.

I'm not saying this was the smartest way of doing things, but once I put the gauges in the truck my suspicions were confirmed. I never hit 1200F even pushing the truck fairly hard and towing (15K).

Best bet - Call DP-Tuner and see what Jody suggests.
