Question Ford and DP Tuner

Took the truck in this morning to have the CPS replaced due to the recall and have a question about DP Tuner and Ford diagnostics. Planning on a DP Tuner install later this month or early April. Not being much of a motorhead, just enough to be dangerous, my question is: With a DP Tuner installed and if I need to take the truck to Ford or another repair shop and they run a diagnostic check what if anything does that do to the DP Tuner or do I just need to place it back in the stock setting before it goes to the shop?

For that question, I would call Jody and talk to him.

But you can allways take the chip out before you take it into the shop.

You will have to take the chip out. If you don't it will cause issues with the Ford diagnostic tools.

Thanks guys. I wondered about taking it out first. When I order the turner I'll ask Jody about it too and I'll post his answer.

Even if you take the chip out, doesn't the computer still log a code that tells them a chip was installed? This is what I was told and I am not sure if it's true.

97 F350 CC LB 4x4 7.3L
Tymar Intake, DP Tuner F-5, Straight Exhaust, 37" Cooper STT II,
SuperDuty Quad-Pod

Parts sitting waiting to install: Moonvisor, 1.0 Exh. Housing, White Faced Dash Gauges, Air Horns (still need compressor)

All Mods on hold as of 2-1-09. Building a rig for my dad.......

It might...not sure. But...the tell tale sign that a chip was installed is that you need to clean the computer contacts on the PCM off before installing the chip. Ford sees that "epoxy" stuff missing...and alarms go off about a chip...whether or not there is one in at the time.

As for the dealer...my truck doesn't go near the place. With the cps recall...I called the service manager and he agreed that it would be better to just give me the cps and let me install it than bring the truck in.
