7.3 monster! eat locals up DP?

I have not lost to any (fast) truck in northern utah so far and have raced D max w/ injectors turbo w/e and cummins with what they said to be 15grand into motors. I had a scare the other day with a D max that i was neck and neck with so im looking to do the following mods and looking for some pro advice

I have 5" straight,Cold air intake,Garret powermax bb turbo, studed heads, forged rods, edge juice with attitude, shift kit, torque converter not sure what im runnin as far as hp but i know with just the turbo and stock truck gets you to 290rwhp

I am going to get rid of my edge cause it keeps frying and go with a DP tuner. Im thinking about stage 3 hybrids http://www.shop.blackwidowdiesel.com...&productId=360

i dont have alot of money and wont till im out of school now.. so big oil, fuel pump and other stuff isnt gonna be for awhile... let me know what you think i can get with a DP tuner at max tune with new injectors and boost pushed to around 35. or voice your opinions on what ya think about later down the road also. thanks!

Without the big oil, those stage 3's will not function to their full potential. You'll be tripping an SES light everytime you mash the go-fast pedal. To be able to run without the big oil, I'd look into a set of hybrids. Hope this helps some.

Putting an upgraded turbo on a bone stock truck with no tuning will not give you any additional horsepower. In stock form, the PSD can't even max out the stock turbo. With your Edge unit, you're probably seeing 290-300 rwhp as you stand right now.

With Stage III Hybrids and supporting mods, you'll see way more than 35 psi of boost, and well over 400 hp.

With those injectors and a chip from DP with a Max HP tune you can say good bye to your rods as they will be exiting the block shortly.

That combo can be toned down with tuning to so that you dont have as much chance of breaking a rod but you will not see the full power that it is capable of.

There is no way you were beating very fast trucks with an Edge and 40" tires. Not saying you didn't beat them, just that they were blowin smoke up your but about what they had done.

We can detune a chip to work with what you have. If you are winning now, hang on......40 psi should be no issue, and 425 HP easy. fuel system is nice, but we've installed hybrids without it before.

With the exact mods you have I put down 330hp, only differance is I had 37's...

Your not beating any "modded Dura-maxes" like that. Maybe a mild edge tuner on a D-max...

Stage 3 (hybrids) will NOT require dual oil, that is the whole point of Hybrids. But your rods are going to be pushed to there limit with hybrids. There good to about 400ish before they like to go on vacation.:

I ran hybrids and a BB turbo for about 30k with no issues, but I did not rod on it hard then.

Stage 2 injectors would be safe if you dont want to dig into the bottom end. (safer...)

Was i the only one who caught the line where he said he has headstuds, and forged rods? Assuming he's already swapped engines. :smoke:

Not to tryin to be rude but I live in nothern utah and if you think you have anywhere close to the fastest truck you have not raced anybody. Try going down to Rocky Mountain Raceway on friday night this summer you will be in mid pack we have alot or 12sec and 11 sec trucks around here.

Or I know this is a high school thing but go out on the Blvd on friday or saturday night and find a couple dodges out there I would be willin to bet there a few trucks that hang out at stop&shop on 12th that could beat ya.

Do get me wrong I love the 7.3 but you gotta have alot of money to make them fast.

I caught that too. Kinda odd to go through the trouble and expense of putting in forged rods and headstuds on an engine running nothing but an Edge tuner.
