DP tuner/ECM question?

(1) I have an early 99 with 4r100. I want to check my ECM code and know that I must remove the ECM to check it. Do I need to disconnect the neg. bat. cable first or anything? Or do I just unbolt it with the key "off" and then replace the same way?

(2) I am assuming that I have XLE programming due to the crappy shifting, especially into third gear. If confirmed XLE, can this ECM be used with a DP tuner and F5? Or do I need a PMT ECM? If so, does DP still sell the PMT ECMs along with the chip etc??

I know I could call DP personally about this, but I figured I would ask you guys some of these basic questions first, before making the call. Thanks in advance.

no need to disconect the battery.. just keep the key out of the ignition.

then pull it..

if you feel flexable you can read the code with a small mirror. but it is fasted to pull it. and you wont write the numbers down backwards
