Charge air pipes

Has anybody tried to insulate the cac pipes to keep engine compartment heat away from them. And does it do any good for performance?

You won't notice anything different other than noise. That's exactly what Ford started doing on the 7.3L's in later years. Mine has a wrap around the CAC pipe from the factory, and it was simply for sound reduction purposes only.
