Smoke, Power, all that good stuff!!!

Hi everyone im new to this forum and was wondering if i could get some advice, Im about to by a truck, I have an eye on a 12v and a 24v im not exactly sure which one to go with. There both around 13000. Ive got $6000 cash and am about to take a $10000 loan out which leaves me with about $3000 for goodies Im thinking about 1 6" mitre stack, edge comp or attitude, injectors.... what do yoyu guys think the combo is? I now itll be a little different with the 12v. People in my town are all about big white lifted fords and I basicly wonna pull them while turning there trucks black, if you now what I meen :

Go 12v,................24's are alot more expensive trust me:Thumbup:

Welcome to TDG!

Can you enlighten us a little more about the two trucks you are looking at. Personally I would go with a 12v, the 24v interior just does not have enough creature comforts over the 12v interior to make me want to switch. Unless the 12v is a 98' quad cab, I don't think it should be as much as a 24v truck. Let us know some more details.

I dont now to much on the 24v because a guy at the shop were im getting my engine built says his friend has one for sale, hes supposed to call him and talk to him but he still hasnt called me. All I now about the 24v is its a 98 qaud cab, short bed, auto, babied, 4x4, he says it has low miles but I dont know the exact #. The 12v is in Utah and im in California which is good cuz I feel like goin on a drive!! This is the 12v

I like the 24V over the 12V.

Being that all the BOMBs are Plug N play and are adjustable on the fly for tuning. Like me I just got to push a button on the Edge Comp to change the power.

Where a 12V you must pull out the tool box and adjust the pump and change setting to get the desired effect. Which can be a royal PITA! So if you got the pump turned up and your out in the snow you might be in be trouble...

i like the 24 v personally but i do not think i would buy a 98 1/2. that is the first batch of 24v and all of the bugs that have not been worked out of there system. plus 12v smoke more and are cheaper to build. but they boath have there percks.

Either way, if you're looking at an auto, keep in mind that the trans will want some attention if you go turning up the power. I've had both, i really like my 24v, however the 12v was nice because they are cheap. For 3000, you could do a converter and valvebody to help the trans last, and then invest the remaining money into performance mods and have a truck that will scoot, thats for sure.

I vote 12 valve too. I had a 24 valve and I sold it to my dad just to get an older 12 valve. Of course I still get to use it whenever I want, but that's neither here nor there.
12 valves are cheaper to build and often times cheaper to fix, you get the relaibility of an all mechanical engine (my personal preference). Not to say that the 24v isn't reliable because it is, but I personally got tired of watching my fuel pressure gauge. Unless you get an aftermarket fuel system that you can rely on, the electric lift pumps die, and when you lose fuel pressure to the pump, you will eventually lose the pump and that's a pretty expensive part.
