A pressure box deals with the injection side of things by changing the pulse width and rail pressure for the injectors. Where a timing box will adjust the timing of the injection events. A Smarty does both IIRC....The reason some are listed as one or the other is so you can stack them as you don't want two boxes doing the same thing. I'm a 12V guy so I might be wrong though .

Stacking can be dangerous, if your gonna stack anything on your truck the best combo IMHO is Smarty with MP-8. But your gonna toast your clutch. If I where in your shoes Erik I would look at the Smarty Jr. for your rig, it with have a good mileage tune, tow tune and performance tune. Its a downloader style tuner that you put on the truck. Your gonna need a lift pump to supply fuel if you stack on your rig to keep the fuel supplied to the CP3 so you don't run the risk of draining the rail. Also before you get a tuner, get your gauges put in so you can keep an eye on whats going on.

I agree with Neel, a simple tuner like the Smarty Jr. or Diablosport predator are going to give you the best 'bang for your buck' especially since i know you dont have a lot of $$$$$ the predator can be had for under $400, and i think the smarty jr. is just over $400

Stacking on a dodge is the current way to make the best power, the best Combo's so far it seems are Smarty TNT Revo POD with TS MP8, or Smarty TNT Revo POD with the TST CR 45, both will smoke your stock clutch, stock turbo, and stock CP3 with zero effort

Like Neel also said stacking boxes, especially when you dont know what your doing in regards to which tuner/box/programmer is providing injection timing, fuel pressure, commanded fuel, boost pressures, etc. you can blow up your motor, just ask Sledpuller500(Erik), he had THREE different power adders on his truck and melted it down

In the near future the best tuning options for the 5.9L CR Cummins will be with a little programmer called EFI Live...... but I dont know anything about that

EFI Live has starting tuning for 07.5 6.7L and I believe the 06 CR but they use a CANBUS ECM so the tuning for your rig may be a while waiting on EFI Live. See in 06 Dodge changed the way they programmed the ECM as a test for the up coming 6.7L. This is why you see the S-06 Smarty and then the other one for the CR.

The Smarty SR is 685 and the Jr is around 500. The 100hp tune on the JR. is going hurt the clutch enough. Unless you plan to go all out with you rig in the long run then I would ( I have the S67 Jr.) go the Jr. Like I said earlier the jr has a tune for every need though it may not be the hottest and baddest tune it will work. just my .02s
