Difference 12,24 and Cr

What is the difference in these besides the obvious valve count. What is so different about the CR? It isn;t a cummins? I'm looking to do a swap and wanna know what difference is

The CR is feed Fuel by a single "Common Rail" and not 6 individual fuel lines...

I turned 21
First Generation 1989-1993 12 valve: Mechanical injection VE rotary pump, non-intercooled from 89-91, intercooled in 91.5-93, H1C turbo with a 18.5cm housing

Second Generation 1994-1998 12 valve: Mechanical injection P7100 inline pump, 94 had a WH1C turbo with a 12cm wastegated housing, later years had the HX35 turbo.

Second Generation 1998.5-2002 24 valve: electronic controlled VP44 rotary injection pump, still a pump line nozzle system, all manual trans pickups used the HX35 turbo but the 2001-2002 autos had the HY35 with a 9cm housing for emissions.

Third Generation 2003-2007 24 valve: CP3 Common Rail Injection. All the pump does is create pressure, solenoids in the injectors determine fuel delivery. 2003-2004 used the HE341 turbo with a 54mm compressor and 9cm housing, 2004.5-2007 used the HE351cw turbo with a 60mm compressor and 9cm housing.

1995 12 valve Cummins 6.0L, Air Dog 150, no fuel plate, AFC tuning, 024 DV's, 4K GSK, 18* timing, SDX 5x.014 injectors, Hamilton 181/210 cam and HD pushrods, Stage 2 Port job, 5 angle valve job, 60lb valve springs, ARP studs, O-ringed head, .020" over head gasket, coated pistons, balanced bottom end, Fluidampr, PDI exhaust manifold, homemade intake manifold, HE351cw Common Rail turbo and 50mm wastegate.
Drive Train: 13" Valair clutch [email protected], 5 speed, 4x4, 3.55 diffs, on 285/75 R16s

I'm doing the swap also. I just bought a 12 valve really cheap. am I better off selling it and doing a common rail conversion. it will be going into a 2004 ford F-250 with a 6.0. i'm not looking to make big horse power but would like to be comparable with the 6.0 liter power and drivability. approx 400 to 500 rwhp.

2004 Black over Orange F-250. C/C 304 MBRP turbo back exaust. powertrap air filter(by Wix/Visteon).

From what I have been reading a 12v is the easiest

yes it is, 3 wires and the motor runs


ARP studs, sct, Leveling kit,Airdog set at 62psi with no factory pump, leveling kit,5" stacks, under cab lights, Large in the way Fan shroud Removed, bed Lights being Re-did. Large Alternator(250amps)(130 amps was so 2003). On 3rd set of Hgs(soon to be 4th), 2nd set of heads, 2nd tubro, egr cooler, FICM and more. When i Turn the Key it does return a Favor, not always in MY Favor.

Go with the 12V it will be easyer and simpler. Take the time to install head studs and O rings before you install the engine. Tab the Killer Dowel Pin, and if you want 400 to 500 hp to be streetable you may as well plan on twins to keep the smoke down. You can make plenty of power with a big single turbo but it will be laggie and smokey.
