Tuning Forum

Would like to ask if there is interest in starting a new forum, to discuss various tuning concepts. I am getting EFI savvy, and am particularly interested in it as a tool to better thermal efficiency.

A subset of the GM truck forum perhaps. I see Ross has paid the dues, how about we get hip deep?

Killerbee,

Have you had a chance to continue your work with EFI-Live? Just wondering how some of your towing/highway tunes are coming along.

Someday I would like to swtich from my Edge EZ to EFI-Live.

The EZ does do a good job satisfying my needs for towing/driving around on level 1. I see a 1 mpg drop with the edge on level 1 versus stock (no edge) for highway milage (hand calculated.) I see around 17.3 mpg highway with the EZ on level 1 and around 18.4 mph highway with the EZ disconnected. The 1 mpg drop is worth the extra power though. These are unloaded over a 1200 mile period including some start/stop traffic but mostly 55-65 mph roads.

Hi Mark:

18.4 mpg highway (hand-calculated, stock, unloaded) is excellent; the best mileage I ever see under the same conditions is 17.1 mpg highway.

Do you run synthetics?

Stevebos,

Yes, I normally run 5W40 Synthetic for oil, Mobile 1 in the pumpkins and Mobile 1 in the tranny (although I need to check because I am not sure if M1 it is rated Dexron IV ....)

I also run Standyne Performance formula on every tankfull (8 oz or so.)

I also don't get the opportunity to go above 65 mph - usually I am at 55-60 mph with heavy volume of vehicles. I think this helps the most (along with the Cold Air Intake I installed a year ago.)
