Constant error codes from Banks Six Gun...HELP!
I'm new to the forum and have a question or two. I've got a situation that neither Banks Engineering, or my GMC dealer seem to be able to resolve. A few weeks ago, I got in my truck and tried to leave, the engine light came on and 3 trouble codes came up on the PDA. When I put the truck in gear, there was absolutely no power. I stepped on the accelerator and nothing happened. The truck's transmission engaged into drive and rolled, but only at idle. These are the trouble codes that showed up on the PDA:
1)P0016 CRANKSHAFT POSITION CAMSHAFT POSITION CORRELATION
2)P0698 5 VOLT REFERENCE 3 CIRCUIT LOW VOLTAGE
3)P0341 CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR PERFORMANCE
I called the dealer who told me to remove the Banks wiring harness out of the loop. And plug in the stock one. It worked briefly. I called a representative at Banks who told me to put the key in the ignition, turn it on, then turn it off (three times) and on the fourth time, start the engine to reset everything. That also worked briefly. I drove the truck and everything seemed fine and then the engine light came on again. When it came on as I was driving, I still had power, and the truck drove fine. As soon as I shut the truck off and tried to restart it, I put it in “DRIVE” and had no power. This has happened three times. Banks also told me to pull the fuse and/or disconnect the positive terminal on the battery to reset the system. I tried that also. I still show the trouble codes, and the engine light remains lit.
After a week, I drove the truck to Banks Engineering in Azusa, CA and told them the dealer did a thorough electrical problem check and determined that it was the Banks Stinger system. They changed it out to a Banks Six Gun and even replaced the wiring harness free of charge.
Less than 24 hours later, I got the same exact problem with the exact same codes. The dealer checked everything out and can't find a thing wrong with the electrical. Banks has done everything on their end to assure the problem isn't with them.
I've tried everything including resetting the PDA, updating the PDA (done at Banks), disconnecting BOTH batteries, thorough electrical system checks, and banks re-installed everything new. Has this happened to anyone else? Does anyone have a clue as to what I need to do or check? I sure would appreciate it!
