general maintance questions

i got some general maintance questions and some questions in general i have a 1990 f250 7.3 4x4

1 how much oil does my engine take
2 how much tranny fluid does my trans take its a e4od
what is the nornal tranny temp
also what would be a good size exulst to put on my truck

im pretty sure it takes about 2.5 gallons of oil and the exhaust on my truck is 3 inch and it runs and sounds good.. hope this helps a little bit

86 F-250 4X4..7.3 non turbo from an 89.. E injectors and pump turned up.. 4 speed..3.55 gears.. new dual 4" exhaust by diamond eye-- with the muffler > for now!

cool that is a start now anyone know how hot the operating temp is for a idi tranny

Tranny temp should average about 100 degrees over ambient air temp.

Fluid is 16 quarts Mercon or Mercon V.

01 F250 4X4, 7.3.
90 F350 4X4, 7.3
85 F250 4X2 6.9
08 Arctic Cat 700 4X4, Diesel

If changing your oil you can use the 7.3 D.I. filter ( motorcraft # FL-1995 ) for more filter substrate and oil capacity too.

94 F250 IDI turbo, auto 2wd.. ATS housing, 3" down, 4" exh, guages. 104k miles got totalled by a damn mustang (parts now).

98 12v, 4x4 quad cab. auto with BD T/C & V/B, Banks Big head, Exh brake, AFC modded, 16.5ish*, KDP gone, 60lb springs, 4K-GSK, BHAF, pyro, trans, and boost guages. 4" straight pipe,

72 AM General M35A2, LDT465-1C "Whistler" Turbo, PTO winch.

That's an EXCELLANT suggestion, I have done exacatly that since the PSDs were introduced, use the larger PSD filter on the IDI engines.

The Wix/NAPA PSD filters (51734/1734) also filter out smaller particles than the IDI filters (51742/1742.)
