change fuel filter

i have a 1990 ford f250 diesel how do you change the fuel filter i no were it is but dont no how to change it

Spin it off with a oil filter wrench. Get new filter out of the box fill it up with some diesel fuel, or some ATF or your favorite injector cleaner. Also dont forget to apply a little lube to the rubber gasket. Spin on the filter. When you first start your truck, it may or may not start the first time as it has to get all the air out of the system, but once its started it will most likely run a little rough just let it idle for a few minutes. Go back out and check to make sure you have no leaks.....Drive

ok it looks like theres a plascic cap on top and underneth the filter

Yes you have the factory filter with a bowl on the bottom side, it allows you to drain the water out of the filter. A lot of us upgrade to the one part fuel filter, part number Nap 3417.


If you want to keep your setup just spin off the bottom piece and replace it on the new filter before filling.
