Clicking after wts light cycle

My wts light comes on and stays on for 15 seconds, no clicking. as soon as the light goes out the clicking starts and the volt meter starts jumping.I started it once and it didn't have a problem turning over. My alternator went bad a week ago and i changed it out with an old one i had on a parts truck. the problem started today when my dad went out and added some water to the overflow container and spilled water onto the fuse box next to it.
