How often do you change the oil? I ran the Rotella 5w-40 synth but just wasn't comfortable letting my oil changes go past 5k miles. It made more sense from a wallet point of view to switch back to 15w-40 dino oil during summer and run 10w-30 dino during the winter. I haven't really noticed any change in cold start-ups from the 10w-30 and 5w-40.

Don't run Mobil-1...... it's made for gas motors. However, Delvac-1 will work any where any time, hot or cold. Delvac-1 is a true C-5 oil. And, if you're runninga Perkins style injector it'll hold the power longer, longer miles and hours.

Mobil 1 does have a CI-4 rated diesel oil - Truck and SUV. Some say its the same stuff as Delvac, but I couldn't tell you for sure. It does advertise the same properties.

Schaeffer's 5w-40 year round and no problems at all and we will see in about 3000 miles for a sample to see what's going on. When I decided to go this route I tried rotella 5-40 and mobil truck and suv 5-40 and the schaeffers is the same price as the rotella as long as you don't pay for shipping which is about $13 a gallon and well worth it to me.

I've been running Schaeffers and I'm very satisfied with it.

I've got a friend that runs several 60 series and some Cats with Schaeffers Oil. From what I've seen he gets about 750 to almost 1,000,000 miles outt'a them before they even need head work.

It must be good stuff. :agreed:
