Front Wheel Shake

I've developed an issue when I hit a series of close bumps on the road.

The front end will shake vigorously, like what they call "head shake" on a motorcycle. Wiggle back and forth really fast.

What can I check?

It has new ball joints, axle bearings, and shocks. I did notice it does not have a steering stabilizer, and not sure if it should. Its a cab and chassis truck.

When you take it for a drive of over a 1/2 hour, reach in and feel the shocks, if they are cold they are junk. Check the steering components by you looking and having someone shake the steering wheel gently back and forth.
Is the steering box adjusted properly?
You also have to check the rear shocks, and for bent rims, and a tire with broken cords, and bulges.

Ford put out a letter a while ago about shimmy in the front ends of the trucks. I can remember exactly what it said but it had to due with tire pressure and a couple of other things. Your problem sounds some thing like what it was talking about. Call a dealer they may have a copy the you can have. Chech tie rod ends, drag link and pitman arm for wear too.

Interesting, I'll have to look it up. Thanks for the info.

I think I'm going to replace the tie rods ends, and all those other joints associated with it (not sure of the names, but there is 4 of them). There are kits on ebay but not sure how good of quality they are, might go with Moogs instead.

I have a 1999 ford in the shop now, when the hubs are engaged and you turn the hub every 180 degrees turn the steering will jerk forward and back. I pulled the hub OK. I pulled the diff cover everything, looks good. That axles was very hard to turn manually. Diff has synthetic oil.
I am no expert on Dana 60 axles.
Seems to be related to the warren hubs.

We swapped the warren hubs and no change, the good hub is very difficult to get engaged into the offending hub and axle. He is bringing it back and we are going to remove the hub and the axles remove the "U" joint and put the axles in the lath to see if one is bent.
With all the solid front axle lovers on every 4x4 site and I can not get any quotes on parts or advise.
