Converting a SRW Ford bed to a DRW questions

I have a 97 F350 chassis in my yard I am thinking about building and I want to convert it to a dually. I know where a good bed is real cheap. The bed floor is in great shape. But the area around the wheel wells is rusted. Not a big deal considering I am cutting that away any way. I also have a friend with brand new Ford flares for that model year. So I can have this bed done for a very reasonable amount. Is cutting the wheel wells all there is to this? Are there any structural issues I should be aware of? I have looked at my 95 ford dually and it looks pretty cut and dry. I want to make sure I am not missing anything though. Have any of you done this before?

It's a little late but if you haven't found out, the dually fenders just bolt on the outside.

I found out the SRW and the DRW beds are very different. I cannot simply bolt a set of flares to a SRW bed like I thought I could.

I did this on a 1977 chevy. Just held the fender up and marked it and cut the wheel wells and drilled the bolt holes.

2002 F-350 CC, Shortbed, 4X4, rebuilt 7.3, EBV brake, 4" dual exhaust, B&D compressor wheel, head studs, Gear head performance 6 pos, Banks Big Head, built 4R100 w/triple disc torque conv, Shift kit, 204K, B&W Hitch and 5th wheel companion, Superlift Air Bags, 35 x 12.50 x 17 BFG KM2:

I bet the steel thickness of the old Chevy bed wall was a lot thicker. The Ford I am working with has reinforcement for the dually beds.

I have pictures on my other computer, but I used the piece that covered the gap between the two bed panels to lay it out. How are they that different? I know they sell kits to put duals on any truck.

Some one sent me some photographs of a DRW bed they had torn down. I wish I could find them because I would post them. That would be easier than trying to explain it. The area the flare bolts to is different and is reinforced quite a bit.
