will 1999-2004 16" rims work on a 2005?

I am looking to get a set of wheels for truck pulling. My 05 has 18" wheels but it is easier to find rubber for the 16"s. Will older 16"s bolt right up on a 2005?

I don't know if they do or don't...but if they do I have the set from my 99 sitting in the machine shed. They wouldn't have center caps though. You can see them in this picture. I upgraded to Lariat rims. Not certain where in MN you are...but I'm in NE SoDak so we might be able to meet halfway if you are interested.

it won't work the smallest you can go is 17" because of the bigger calipers on the 05+ trucks

Sooner or later we need to find a solution for this.

Obviously, there is more and more '05 and '06's on the road, but the tire manufacturers are not keeping up with 17" + tires and wheels, especially for competition type uses.

I'm dealing with the same issue on my 2wd.... and need to make a decision this week.

Unfortunately, I don't have access to many wheels to try out, but the other day I scabbed a spare off an '01 or '02 (?) 16" oem steel wheel......... slid it on my rear axle..... and it just barely fit. Too close to run. After looking at the calipers, which are way thick, it may be possible to machine a bit off. But how much would be safe ??? And how much clearance would be ok ?

Might just try it this week.

Also, US Wheels makes some 16" steels that have more room..... might be an option to fit 16" tires ?
