heated mirrors

Hey all,
I just purchased some power heated towing mirrors for my truck and had a question on how to hook them up. I have power mirrors on there now but the plugs were not right to I just spliced the wires together. My truck has three wires for the mirror. I was wondering if anyone knew what the wires looked like for the mirrors with the power and heat and how I can hook up the heated part. What is the best power source for the heated part? Maybe a wire that is only on when the heater or defrost is on? On don't want them always on because I have herd people have bad problems with water spots. I will have the mirrors in a couple days so any timely help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jim Dager
