if you wanting more power for cheep i would replae your muff/cat with a piece of pipe and install a mild chip
very cheep way to wake it up a lil
if you want a intake i would do a tymar, not quite as fancy, but should make just as much power and prety dang cheep

youngPSD,

The Stage II flows more by a pretty large margin, worth it in the long run. We did a year end discounted buy on them and are passing the savings on and will save you some money!

So someone gives you a few options and you bite??? You would be money ahead to do the Tymar and a chip, then later on upgrade to a AFE if you really need it... The Tymar type filter filters better, flows just as much and will set you back $50-$80...

But if you want to drop a bunch of cash and get no real increase in HP then the AFE stage 2 is the ****e... But not worth $400-$500...

Now...you just said you have no money for a chip, you could by a chip and a tymar filter for the price of an AFE intake...:

:iagree :iagree granted the tymar doesnt look so "cool" but its cheap and it works.. being in your position once had i been given these options deffinately would have gone a diffrent route and had a chip much sooner.. and if ur at all mechanically inclined you could build a shroud or something to make it look better.. but if u want to waste close to $500 be our guest.

Thanks for your input but i dont have money to do a tranny because im paying on my truck and a chip would shorten the life am i right? Which is bad for me and if i lower egt's with an intake thats good. and i didnt mean to bite if you think i did but I never said anything about making more power yet!

Shorten life? Depends on how you maintain it and DRIVE it. If you hammer it all the time and don't change your oil regularly and fuel filters, then yeah, it'll shorten the life. However, if you keep up on reg maintenance and drive it sensibly, means you can hammer it now and then to show a bit, but not all the time, you'll be fine and happy.
An intake lower EGT's? Don't think so. Besides, the tymar they are talking about will flow as good as if not better than the AFE so if the AFE would do that then so would the Tymar.

The intake will not make any more power w/out adding fuel. If you want to do an intake and have it be washable and reusable just get a stage 1. If you are wanting to lower EGT's get an exhaust system. MBRP 4" Al for decent money and you will be ready for upgrades down the line. My $.02.
