heater only works while moving

my heater just started acting up it will only stay hot while i am moving and when i stop at a stop light it slowly gets cold does anyone know why?

have you checked your coolant level?

Just a thought, if the water pump is not pumping, could you be getting the heat from being under load while driving but stopped the heat output is less and the water pump not pumping is allowing the water in the heatercore to cool down? (cavitation in the water pump)

thermostat could possibly be stuck.

2006 F-350 6.0 crew cab long bed with line x.
2" leveling in front with 315/65/18 BFG's.

there was no coolant in the holder i can put water in there right?

put some coolant in and now it works thanks alot!

yea, that happens from time to time. are you getting any puking out by the driver's front fenderwell? I've had that exact thing happen to me a couple times and it was the coolant level both times.
