Trip computer

Does anyone know why the trip computer feature in my truck may not be working, it does not display anything. I just bought the truck so I don't know if it ever worked. I checked my fuses and didn't find any that were blown, could it be unplugged? Could this be only a feature that works in the Excursion. Any help would be great.

Just an idea but have you checked the fuses under the hood? Maybe there is a fuse blown there, like the trailer brakes circuit and it took the trip feature with it. Hope it gets worked out. Nice looking truck!

I was still confussed as why my trip computer would not work,so when I was surfing the web and found this,:thanks: to who ever posted it on the other site. I think the user name is Ford_Forgotton

It may be help to others so here is the procedure I used and it fixed it.

Overhead Trip Computer fix

Not Quite Step by Step Instructions on fixing your overhead trip compute

Use a T-10 Torx driver to remove the screw holding the circuit board.

Using a FINE TIPPED soldering iron, and VERY FINE solder, simply resolder the
"Problem Resistors" back into place. Be VERY careful not to hold the iron
on too long, as you can damage the components from too much heat.

You will notice in the pictures that I have replaced one of the "Problem Resistors"
with a "regular" resistor. This is because the ORIGINAL surface mount component
resistor was lost by the owner during the removal of the unit.

These resistors are not soldered in very well, and they are subject to enough heat
that they weaken the solder joint and occasionally FALL OFF! If you find yours is
missing the SMD resistor, or the resistor is laying in your tray, it is OK to re-use
it. It is NOT DIRECTIONAL. If you lost your original, you can use a standard style
resistor. The 680's are 68 ohms. I had to replace one as pictured.

If you notice a "burn" mark on your display screen, it is OKAY!. All of them have it
and has something to do with the manufacturing process, and is not a sign of a broken
display.

The above details are by no means all inclusive.
