Stereo ideas

I would like to get a little better sound out of the radio in my 06. I don't want to put a full system in or go crazy. I'm just talking about good replacement speakers in the stock locations with maybe a small amp. I don't really like the emtpy space when you put a aftermarket head unit in either. Any ideas?

Kenwood DDX-7015 is what I had in my Ford, I loved it. Lindsay's Dad has it in his truck now and loves it. It is double din, so no empty space.

IMO pioneer premier speakers are about the best value you can get. they sound awesome and won't cost you $1000. and you can get a decent amp starting at around $200, sony has a good one that has been on sale recently.

I talked to our radio guy at work 2 months ago about this same thing. He advised me to go with a decent head unit instead of replacing the speakers first. I went with the Apline cd head unit for $199 and also bought the ipod cable to hook up my wifes ipod on trips and love this feature. I will say that Alpines FM reception through the stock antenna SUCKS but the sound quality when playing a cd or the Ipop through the cable to the head unit ROCKS. I think I paid about $280 for the head unit the ipod cable, painless wiring harness and the new plastic mount. Just another option to explore.
