I did the 7000lb spring mod....

Bought the 7K front coils from dealer for 39.90 each, mine came w/ 6500lb stock. Easy install, it helped bottoming and the annoying bump steer. It also raised the front 1 full inch. Cheap mod for those w/ heavy grille guards. These springs were listed under F-550, and fit perfectly.

5C3Z-5310-AA Retail price is around $50.00. The key here is the "AA" I don't remember all the codes, but the 6500lb. ends in "CA" Look on the door jamb to see what springs you have, or the tag on the coil if it's still there.

I also changed my front springs from the stock 5200lb to the 5600lb and it made a big difference in firmness. I was going to try the 6000lb, but figured I'll go one step at a time and so far the 5600lb was sufficient for me. The change only took me ~20 minutes per side. The hardest part was finding a place to support the front end without using the front axle.

You can support the whole front of the truck by lifting under the blocking beam. Its a steel tube under the core support. It was designed to help keep little cars from going under the truck so you don't kill people.
