285/75-16 is the next size up that most people use, its basically a 33in tire and stands a bit taller. This thread will likely get moved into the general section. Harry

I went with the 285 75 16 on the stock wheel and probably made a mistake in doing so...at least for my application. Since I tow medium trailer weight, I'm convinced the tire and wheel combo are causing just enough sidewall bulge to make the truck a little squirrelly. Technically speaking, the 285 requires at least a 7.5" wheel. My stock wheel is 7" wide.

285 is fine, my friend put 315s on his stock aluminum wheels and towed all the time, my other buddy has 285s on his, both are 02 PSDs and he tows everything from hay to his JD skidder, definitly will look better with the extra meat in the wheel wells

255/85R16 will fit the stock rim perfect, and it's 33" tall too.

They have a lower load rating though (3000lbs each instead of 3415lbs)

I ran BFG Mud Terrains in the winter, and loved them.

That's open to opinion, I prefer tall skinnys myself.

285's are too wide for stock rims, and that's not opinion.

285's are fine on our rims. They measure out at 16x7.5, I ran 315s on mine and towed up to 15k and never had a problem. Bigger tires look better on out trucks to, the wheel wells are to large to run 265s.

They (stock) are 7" rims, 315's are stupid wide for them.

If you want wide tires fine, but buy the correct wheels to go with them.

I've seen a lot of guys stack tuners and run propane "without issues" too
