Hood insulation

Does anybody know what the hood insulation is made from? When I blew oil this winter...it soaked my hood insulation. Now that it has gotten warm...I am dripping oil everywhere. I just wonder if I can powerwash this thing when I take it down. I don't want to leave it out...I am sure it cuts down noise a little bit. But...I am tired of the oil drips.

Dave I'm not sure if it's the same material. But on my Chevy 95 gasser every spring I would power wash under the hood. Including the hood insulation and it never hurt is. You just to to be a bit careful that once it's soaked you don't blow it apart.

Thanks Doug. I would apply a liberal amount of Simple Green to soak in...then either power wash it off...or use my garden hose sprayer.

Forgot to mention I also would remove the under hood light bulb. If the cold water did not get it the pressure would.

I've had my hood open so many times that I took the light out for fear of running down the batteries

You know the '05-'07 trucks never had hood insulation. So i think removing it wouldn't be that much noisier in the cab.

The 6L were a bit quieter than the 7.3L were.
