I found paperformance has pretty good prices, but the prices on the site that tank put up are better, i was thinking something in the 160amp range should be fine, tank have you used their alternators? nhow do they hold up, and lso do i really have to upgrade my charging wire, i think i would just run another wire parallel to the bat of the alt with a mega fuse, like the kits they show.

thanks for the replys

Price isn't everything.

For example, how do you know you're getting a high power alternator when you order from DB? 14 so-called high power alternators bought as a group buy - weren't; and one other bought by another TDG member wasn't. There a four page thread on the group buy here and I don't recall the member who got what he thought was a 130 amp alternator but appears to be only a 105 amp alternator, a search should be able to turn up the thread.

I'd keep looking if I were you.

Alterparts.com or nationsalternators.com are two you might look into to.

They claimed that they had found the error, but we were several weeks into it and weren't confident that we would get the right output so we canceled the deal. I was part of that group buy. Chris

another question i have is how big is too big? is 200 amp almost to big, stock is 105 amp i believe, and in the winter when plowing, 8.5 xtreme v, with my heater, lights and plow going my lights dim when lifting the plow, now when plowing usally when i raise the plow, or angle i am at idle, and i dont plow full throttle so would i be better to get a 200amp alt that charges at 105 amps at idle, and also should i be worried about overcharging the batteries in the summer when i dont use the plow?

thanks

oh yeah i am know leaning towards one of these, 2 year warrenty other are only one.

Yup, they told me they fixed their issues. i have not tried on or talked with them since. I wont talk them down as they gave me the 2K back with no hassle, but i will say getting lied to from the owner is a big deal to me.

I now have one that puts out more, in a large case for cooling, and at better price .
